Is Pillartech - ptl - a good MLM thing or is it a scam?!

Pillartech (PTL) 'and Orange' Eradicating poverty

Today as i passed by the orange offices next to co-op house, something distracted me. There was a big banner that read "MAKE 5,000 EVERY WEEK!" I normally don't pay much attention to such but this one caught my eye; because the ptl people had placed the banner outside Orange's office. Long story short, i went into the room where they were teaching people how to make lots of money by introducing your friends (and their friends) to orange money and making them buy airtime and "kits". Its an 'affiliate like' business.. The guys in there seem very convinced that its actually a worthwhile business idea.In fact, they told me that i can buy a car and a house in less than one year if i work very hard.

The idea is, when you sell the kit to your mother or (your father, you sister, her brother, her brother's brother, her mother's sister..and so on) and they sell to their chain of friends and relatives, you get a certain percentage of their profit. So this gives you lots and lots of money; more so if the people in your 'pyramid' are very aggressive.

The "kit" is actually a kit with an orange line, 500 Sh. airtime and a booklet that contains the top secret on how to make millions- they sell it at 1,985 Sh.

I prayed that the people in the training sessions realized that many others have tried MLM (don't say pyramid) in kenya and i don't know any one who has made millions through it. I especially felt for a lady who was sitting behind me and i heard her whisper that she'd abandon her business in s. sudan and buy the 'kits'. at one point.
(MLM- Multi-Level-Marketing )

The math common sense!!

MLMs work by geometric expansion, where you get ten people to bring in ten to bring in ten, and so on. This is usually shown as an expanding matrix (....don't say "pyramid"!) with corresponding kick-backs at various levels.
The problem here is one of common sense. At a mere three levels deep this would be 1,000 people. There goes the a village! At six levels deep, that would be 1,000,000 people believing they can make money selling. But to whom? There goes a whole town! And PTL is just getting its steam going. Think of all the meetings! Think of all the "dreams" being sold! Think of the false hopes being generated. Think of the money being lost.

During "the pitch," anyone can make it work. "It's the opportunity of a lifetime." "Just look at the math!" But mention the inevitable saturation and the losses this is going to cause for everyone, and then you'll hear, "Of course it would never really work like that." "Most will fail," you will be told, "but not you, Mr. Recruit. You are a winner. I can just see it in your eyes."

Just like GNLD, TIENS, PTL... et al,  the  technique  is to create "confidence" in some otherwise dumb idea by diversion of thought, bait, or force of personality. The victim gets confidence in a bogus plan, and, in exchange, the con man gets your money. MLMers are very high on confidence.

I know any one who has been spending their time MLMing thinks that am bluffing, but this i can promise you; 5 years from today you'll actually be more broke than you are now if you don't get your act together! Someone is making money off you and you are at the bottom of the 'pyramid'.
